The Australian cricket team is known not to back down from any challenges on the cricket field. However, the hard-nosed Kangaroos, who are currently in India for the five-match ODI series and three Twenty20s, were reportedly irked over the food that was provided by the Cricket Association of Bengal ahead of the second ODI against Virat Kohli’s men in Kolkata. It is learnt that the Steve Smith-led side lost its cool as the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) failed to meet the dietary demands of the visitors; mainly so of the perfectly grilled chicken.

Australian cricketers wanted their chicken to be grilled at “73-degree centigrade”; a demand CAB apparently could not meet. This did not go down too well with the Aussies.

However, things cooled down and the cook was told to avoid repeating the mistake. In fact, the visitors were happy with the food provided on Wednesday.

“The Australian players were not too happy when they came to realise that the grilled chicken served to them had not been cooked at the prescribed 73-degree centigrade. They had already made their requirement known in advance and the fact that it wasn’t followed did not go down too well with them. It took some cajoling before they calmed down. But things are now under control and the cook has been told not to repeat the mistake. In fact, the Australian players were happy with the food served today (Wednesday),” the CAB official was quoted as saying by Cricketnext.

While the cricket fans are hoping for a blockbuster game at the Eden Gardens on Thursday, rain may play spoilsport. It is indicated that the Rain Gods are expected to make their presence felt in the City of Joy and it means like the first ODI in Chennai, the Kolkata ODI may also turn out to be a rain-curtailed encounter.
